Photos of Los Angeles, the city of cinema

Lights, camera, action!

Los Angeles deserves to be called a megalopolis: stretching as far as the eye can see, bordered by the Atlantic Ocean and magnificent sandy beaches, the Californian city hides secrets and stories and enjoys a worldwide reputation, thanks in particular to the film industry. The Roaring Twenties were the beginning of Hollywood, its many studios and the stars who followed: Charlie Chaplin, Marlon Brando, Harrison Ford, Clint Eastwood, or on the female side, Marilyn Monroe, Ava Gardner, Jane Fonda, Julia Roberts. Today, only Paramount Studios remains in the heart of Hollywood, but Warner Studios and Universal Studios also compete in imagination and technology to create masterpieces just a stone’s throw away.

Los Angeles is also the capital of excessiveness: everything seems bigger, the car reigns supreme, greenbacks are exchanged at the slightest opportunity. It’s the embodiment of the American dream, and many foreigners arrive every year to turn a dream to reality or change their lives. From the high-rise buildings of Downtown to the many residential neighborhoods, the city covers an area of 1,300 km², almost 13 times the size of Paris. With its mild, year-round climate, Los Angeles attracts visitors for its quality of life, Californian phlegm, variety of landscapes and spirit of freedom.
