Discovered by the Spanish in the 17th century, Coronado remained uninhabited for over two centuries. Passed from hand to hand, the peninsula was finally purchased by investors in 1886, who saw the potential for tourism. Now linked to the mainland by a bridge, Coronado Island is a paradise for San Diegans and tourists alike.

Located on the other side of San Diego Bay, Coronado Island attracts visitors with its pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters and seaside-town friendliness. It’s here that the historic Hotel Del Coronado, typical of an architectural genre that took the U.S. by storm – the all-wood Victorian hotel – has been attracting visitors since 1888, and where lovers of the beach, the ocean, fine dining and eclectic shopping come together.

Coronado Island was visited on April 2, 2023.
