California’s second-largest city, San Diego is a dynamic city that is truly ocean-focused, thanks in particular to its 112 kilometers of beach that delight surfers and other swimmers. There’s no shortage of activities, whether on land or sea, to take advantage of San Diego’s idyllic climate. From Mission Bay Aquatic Park to SeaWorld San Diego and the world-famous San Diego Zoo, fun activities for the whole family await you. While visiting the Zoo, take the opportunity to make a detour to Balboa Park, where the architecture of the buildings and its museums should captivate you.
Fancy a night out? Then don’t miss the restaurants in the Gaslamp Quarter (named after old gas street lamps) or Little Italy, where the terraces invite you outside and the smells mingle to whet your appetite. Its proximity to Mexico has had a profound influence on the city, giving rise to a unique culture known as “Cali-Baja”, which is reflected in its architecture, gastronomy and art, among other things. On your tour of the city, take in the downtown area with its towering skyscrapers, the Convention Center, home to Comic-Con, and Seaport Village, a tranquil waterfront complex of boutiques and restaurants. Finally, take a stroll to Cabrillo National Monument and Old Town San Diego, for a better understanding of the city’s history and California’s first inhabitants.
