Still in operation and located on Melrose Avenue in Hollywood, Los Angeles, Paramount Studios offers a small-company tour ($63, must be booked in advance) to discover the mythical filming locations of Forrest Gump, Titanic, Transformers and Interstellar. Paramount Pictures was founded in 1912 by Adolph Zukor in association with Jesse L. Lasky, who directed the very first Hollywood feature film in 1914, and W. W. Hodkinson, who created a company to distribute the films. The 30s to 50s were very prosperous years for the studios, and some great classics were made during these decades. Since the 1980s, studio films have regularly made their mark on the box office: Braveheart, Titanic, Tomb Raider, Transformers, Iron Man, The Wolf of Wall Street, Interstellar and Super 8.
During this tour, the guide explores 100 years of Hollywood cinema: you’ll discover numerous huge film sets built in hangars, large open sets, reconstructions of American streets and a huge pond, fed by Paramount’s large water tower, used for filming aquatic scenes. Featuring anecdotes and filming secrets, the tour is aimed at film buffs and lasts around 2 hours.
This visit to Paramount Studios Los Angeles was made on March 27, 2023.
