The volcano Rincón de la Vieja is located in Guanacaste and is one of the largest in the country. It contains 9 eruptive centers including 2 volcanic cones containing 2 craters. The Santa Maria cone is the summit of the volcano with a height of 1916 meters. The volcano has to its credit about twenty eruptions, especially on the northern slope which makes it the 3rd active volcano of Costa Rica. The national park of the volcano contains many rivers in which you can swim and discover natural pools of hot water (100° F) or warm volcanic mud baths. The visitor can also walk on 3 different paths at the foot of the volcano, one of which leads to a magnificent waterfall.

The Hacienda Guachipelin is ideally located near the volcano and offers many sports and discovery activities, as well as unique moments of relaxation. Discover the canopy on a zip line infiltrating the hollow of a canyon, go for a ride with one of the many horses of the ranch, open all the pores of your skin in a volcanic mud bath before relaxing in one of the hot water pools of the Rio Negro, or take on sports challenges with rafting, rappelling, biking, horseback riding… and all this in an amazing and unique setting in the heart of Costa Rica.
