Porto Rotondo, along with Porto Cervo, is a small town that encapsulates the very essence of the “Costa Smeralda” (Emerald Coast) and the incredible architectural and urban movement of the 1960s. Porto Rotondo’s Piazza San Marco, directly opposite the tourist port, is characterized by a series of small, pastel-colored stores, sometimes completely covered by a luxuriant carpet of ivy. Right next to the square is a majestic amphitheatre, where important shows and events take place, especially in the summer months.
In the 80s, the region was literally besieged by world-famous personalities. It was then that Porto Rotondo’s “dolce vita” was born: actors, actresses and singers docked their magnificent boats to populate the area’s exceptional venues, restaurants and charming hotels. And even today, you can still bump into famous people, recognizable by day by their gigantic sunglasses and baseball caps… And let’s not forget Villa Certosa, the summer residence of Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.
The visit to Porto Rotondo was made in August 2010.
