Norwegian nature is freely accessible to all, and the Oslo Opera House, inaugurated in 2008, was built in the same spirit. Normally, if you walk on the roof of a public building, you run the risk of being arrested. But this innovative building, in the heart of Norway’s capital, challenges tourists to walk on its sloping roof. But make no mistake, beneath your feet are three stages with very different designs, a host of rooms and spaces open to the public – in short, a dynamic working environment for over 600 professionals.
In Oslo in December, the sun rises around 9am and sets around 3:30pm. But it never rises very high, so you feel as if you’re watching it rise and set for hours on end, revealing an astonishing luminosity in the surrounding landscape that’s perfect for photos. The view over the fjord from the Oslo Opera House is no exception to this Norwegian beauty, where calm and the play of light combine to give tourists and Osloites alike a privileged moment to enjoy.
This visit to the Oslo Opera House was made on December 23, 2018.
