The Historical Museum is located in one of the country’s most beautiful Art Nouveau buildings, in the center of Oslo. It presents permanent and temporary exhibitions on four levels. The first floor features the vast and rich collections of the Norwegian Middle Ages, the Treasure Cabinet with gold and silver coins, and the Collapse exhibition.
Ethnographic displays on the 1st and 3rd floors include exhibits on ancient Egypt, the art of antiquity, the Native American collection, Southeast Asian highlights and temporary collections. The museum also houses an Arctic Exhibition, featuring Roald Amundsen’s photos and objects from the 1903 Gjøa expedition.
The visit to the Oslo Historical Museum was made on December 23, 2018.
