The Holmenkollbakken is a ski jump located in the Holmenkollen district of Oslo. Hosting its first ski jumping event in 1892, it is one of the oldest ski jumps in the world and has undergone nineteen renovations since, the most recent in 2009. The stadium can accommodate almost 30,000 spectators.

Every year since 1892, the Holmenkollen ski jump has hosted some of Norway’s most popular ski and jumping competitions. The 1952 and 1994 Olympic Winter Games are among the major events that have marked the history of this ski jump. The world’s oldest Ski Museum, installed beneath the ski jump, presents 4000 years of skiing history. Several fascinating exhibits showcase Nansen and Amundsen’s equipment. Olympic history, photos of the royal family on skis and an exhibition of snowboards all make for a fascinating visit.

The visit to Holmenkollbakken was made on December 25, 2018.
